On a sunny but chilly November Sunday, a number of DVJC members represented the club for the second year participating in the “Phil-a-Trunk” food drive at the Philadelphia sports complex.  Over 800 vehicles were on hand, from a variety of car clubs in the greater Delaware Valley area.  This event, held in conjunction with Philabundance, is one of the single largest food drives in the country.  After the event, the Jaguar group adjourned to the Penrose Diner for a hearty lunch.  Many thanks to our participating members! On a brisk and overcast Saturday members of the Delaware Valley Jaguar Club traveled to Center Valley near Bethlehem, PA to share a lunch at The Copperhead Grille. The October 21st gathering was well attended. Unfortunately several of our colleagues were unable to attend due to the closure of the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Twenty-seven DVJC friends had fun together at a variety of events over four days and three nights in the Pocono Mountains. The Pocono Prowl kicked off with axe throwing and dinner at a brew pub in Stroudsburg. The team of Franz Fox and Phil Janke bested five other teams to win the inaugural DVJC axe throwing tournament. Twisting rural roads, clear blue skies and our Jaguars combined to make three ideal destination drives. We took a fall foliage train ride through Lehigh Gorge State Park in Jim Thorpe, PA, toured Yuengling, the world’s oldest brewery in Pottsville, PA and climbed the scores of stairs at Bushkill Falls. Thursday’s dinner at the Deer Head Inn was complemented by live jazz music. On their return home, many members visited a long-time DVJC member’s home to view their personal collection of scale model and full-size Jaguars. Everyone had a great time! The annual ‘Brits at the Village’ show organized by the ‘Phila MG Club’ was a rain or shine event. The Saturday, October 7, 2023, morning weather forecast was not too optimistic and overcast overshadowed the region… grey and stormy, like England! We believe the main reason why many show prospects decided to keep their classic treasures in the garage. Not so for a handful DVJC members.., their Cats were started up early and they came out to Peddler’s Village PA from all directions. From all the Jaguars on site, I counted only DVJC members, pure thoroughbreds! With some hot coffee, good cigars and great chats with some fellow British car pioneers – like MG, Triumph, Healey’s, Mini and Midgets, even a Morgen-, we were able to resist the challenging Autumn weather conditions. Unfortunately there were only 2 top prizes in our Jag class, first and second, we got them all ! If it would have been more, we would have taken all home… Attached a few pictures of the show, enjoy! The Delaware Valley Jaguar Club held its 18th annual slalom at the Garnet Valley High School, home of the Jaguars, on Saturday, September 30th, 2023. Some damp conditions led to a delay of the start that allowed the participants to share a breakfast at a local restaurant. An SUV was parked in the middle of the course but the resourceful crew carefully moved it out of the way. Thanks to slalom chair Rich Rosen and his volunteers it was a successful event.
