RSVP now for the “Jaguars on the Lawn” picnic hosted by Ed and Carol Petrow on August 21, 2021 from noon to 4 PM. Ed and Carol will provide soft drinks, a selection of wines and two kinds of beers on draft but you’ll want to bring your own picnic lunch and lawn chairs. As many Jaguar aficionados and fellow gear head enthusiasts know, Ed is well versed in vintage cars and motorcycles from all around the world having owned at least 70 examples over his lifetime. Having just completed an impressive garage makeover and addition offering room for at least 14 cars and numerous motorcycles, they have an impressive collection of unusual examples dating from 1940 to 2019. There is always something of interest going in the garage and shop that will be open during the picnic. Many vehicles in their garage are unique and have a special story behind them that Ed will be happy to share with anyone interested.
Less known, is Carol’s passion for native North American flowers, shrubs and trees. While their 7-acre property is not exclusively planted with natives, there are a large number of examples rarely seen especially in a region populated by white tail deer. For anyone who has a botanical interest, Carol would love to walk the property identifying various specimens using their Latin names. You can expect to see many colorful and showy blooms of their favorite day lilies on the 21st along with a cornucopia of other colorful and photogenic blooms. While not a formal garden by far, their grounds are a pleasant way to spend a few hours enjoying the friendship of fellow Jaguar enthusiasts. There is a pleasant swimming pool with limited shade on the patio and a frog pond and stream running through a grove of shade trees. About half of the property is wooded with a network of easily navigable trails by foot or golf car. If weather permits, they may even have corn hole and croquet available on the lawns not occupied cars.
Ed and Carol’s home is in scenic Northern Chester County near the intersection of routes 401 and 100, just ten minutes north of the Downingtown PA Turnpike exit (#312).
Please email your RSVP to Ed at EdPetrow22@gmail.com on or before August 19th and indicate how many will attend with you. Detailed directions will be provided when you RSVP. We will use your RSVP email address to adequately plan for the number of participants or to cancel or reschedule should unlikely poor weather discourage a Jaguar-friendly day.
We hope to see you on the 21st!
